Priest to stand trial over sex assaults

A priest has been ordered to stand trial in relation to a number of alleged sexual assaults against a woman dating back more than 20 years.

Fr Eugene Boland (62), whose address was given as The Parochial House, Killyclogher Road, Omagh, appeared before Magherafelt Magistrates Court.

He is accused of indecently assaulting the woman on dates between June 28, 1990 and June 30, 1992.

It was the first time Boland has appeared in court since the charges were brought.

The case was listed in Londonderry Magistrates Court, before being moved to Magherafelt.

He was remanded on £100 bail to appear at Derry Crown Court on April 23 when his trial starts.
