Report into challenges facing Killaloe Diocese

A more active role for lay people, married clergy, women in ministry and the appreciation of local priests are just some of the issues raised by Catholics across County Clare.

It followed a series of conversations with over 700 priests and lay people throughout the 11 clusters in the diocese of Killaloe regarding the future of the church here and the challenges it faces.

Other areas that featured strongly was disconnect with the church and the crisis of faith with young people and all the findings have been included in a new report on the diocese's website.

Its all part of the Listening Process started by Bishop Kieran O'Reilly last year and diocesan spokesperson Father Brendan Quinlivan says many issues surround declining priest numbers and their ageing profile
