Break-in at Catholic church in Dunkirk fails to disrupt Christmas Mass

Christmas Midnight Mass was scheduled to go on as scheduled at a Dunkirk Catholic church, following the report of a burglary just hours before the holy day.
Dunkirk police are investigating the break-in, which was discovered Monday morning at St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church on Townsend Street.

“Apparently, there was somebody who got into the church through a small window,” one church official said. “As far as we can say, nothing is missing.”

The break-in led to no disruption in services for Christmas.
